Ekuitas Eropa pada awalnya menghadapi kerugian pada hari Jumat, 5 Januari, namun berhasil pulih sedikit, tetap berada di wilayah negatif. PMI jasa ISM yang lebih lembut dari perkiraan di AS memperbarui ekspektasi penurunan suku bunga Federal Reserve pada bulan Maret, memberikan sedikit kelegaan untuk obligasi pemerintah Eropa dibandingkan dengan sebelumnya di sesi sebelumnya. Indeks Stoxx 50 dan Stoxx 600 ditutup 0,25% lebih rendah, setelah turun sebanyak 1% selama sesi tersebut. Data terbaru menunjukkan rebound pada tingkat inflasi utama blok mata uang tersebut menjadi 2,9% di bulan Desember, naik secara signifikan dari bulan sebelumnya yang sebesar 2,4%. Hal ini meningkatkan kekhawatiran tentang inflasi yang terus-menerus berpotensi menyebabkan ECB untuk memperpanjang sikap kebijakan hawkish.
