米連邦準備制度理事会（FRB）は12月会合で、市場予想通りに、政策金利を3回連続で5.25％～5.50％に据え置いた。しかし、今回FRBの会合参加者は、来年の利下げの可能性について内部で議論が行われることを明かした。 

記者会見の声明の中で、最近のデータによると、経済成長は鈍化したものの、労働市場の伸びは底堅さを保っていたが、それも鈍化していたと指摘した。失業率は依然として低く、インフレ率は過去1年間で著しく低下したが、依然として比較的高い水準にある。 

FRBによる最新の経済見通し。 

  • 2023年のGDP成長率は2.6％と前回の見通しの2.1％から上方修正される。 

2024年のGDP成長率は1.4％と前回の見通しの1.5％からわずかに引き下げられた。 

  • 2023年と2024年の個人消費支出の物価指数（PCE）およびコアPCEは、ともに下方修正された。 

2023年は2.8％と、前回3.3％から引き下げられた。 

2024年は2.4％となり、前回2.5％からわずか下方修正した。 

コアPCEにつき、 

2023年は3.2％と前回3.7％から引き下げられた。 

2024年は2.4％と前回2.6％から引き下げられた。 

  • 失業率につき、2023年は3.8％で、2024年は4.1％という見通しが変わらない。 

また、米連邦準備制度理事会（FRB）会合での金利水準見通しのドット・チャートは、2024年に政策金利が引き下げられることを示唆している。それによると、2024年末時点の金利水準の中央値は、9月の5.1％から4.6％に引き下げられ、来年75ベーシスポイント利下げの可能性を示唆している。
