製造業PMI、過去6カ月で最低水準 

2023年10月Judo Bank Flashオーストラリア製造業PMI（速報値）は、前月の48.7より低下し、48となった。これは8ヵ月連続の低下であり、6ヵ月ぶりの最低水準となっている。主な原因は、需要減退に伴う生産減少と新規受注量の減少である。インフレ圧力の高まりに牽引され、7ヵ月ぶりのピークに達した原材料コストの高騰が目立った。燃料費の高騰が価格上昇圧力の主な要因の一つとなった。生産費用も上昇したが、その上昇率は比較的緩やかであった。市況の悪化を受け、景況感は過去3年半で最低の水準に落ち込んだ。心強いことは、雇用水準は伸びを維持することで、雇用機会の創出が3年間延長されたことである。

総合PMI、低下傾向継続 

2023年10月Judo Bank Flashオーストラリア総合PMI（速報値）は、前月の51.5から47.3に低下した。この数値は、オーストラリアの民間セクターの大幅な業績悪化により、過去21ヵ月で最低の数値となった。企業活動の低迷は、受注の減少、条件不利な需要環境、インフレ圧力の高まり、金利上昇が原因である。新規輸出取引量は8ヵ月で低下し続けている。原材料コストは、3ヵ月ぶりの高水準に達したインフレ率の上昇に刺激され、急速な上昇が続いた。顧客需要の減退が価格設定を圧迫したが、生産費用も同様に上昇を示し、結果として、コストインフレーションの上昇ペースは2021年3月以来最も緩やかなものとなった。
