英国は景気低迷の中、曙光を見出す

英国のFTSE100種総合株価指数は3日続伸し、0.3％上昇の7,772で取引を終え、10ヶ月ぶりの高値を記録した。良好な経済指標が低迷する英国経済に明るい兆しをもたらした。 

2024年1月の英国月次GDPは予想通り0.2％の小幅成長となり、前月の0.1％低下を経て、2023年後半のテクニカルリセッションからの回復を示した。この勢いは主にサービス部門（前月の0.1％減の後、今月は0.2％増）、特に自動車を除く小売業（3.4％増）、医療・市場サービス（0.9％増）、教育サービス（0.7％増）が牽引した。 

一方、建設生産は1.1％増（前回の0.5％減に対して）となった。しかし、工業生産は0.2％の減少（前回の0.6％増に対して）となった。これは主に上下水道、廃棄物処理、修理業務が2.2％減少したことによる。1月までの3ヵ月間、英国経済は0.1％の小幅な縮小となった。 

英国の1月の財・サービスの輸出も好調で、0.7%増の692億6,000万ポンドとなり、1年半ぶりの低水準となった12月の687億6,000万ポンドから回復した。欧州連合(EU)向け財輸出は0.8%増加したが、これは主に燃料、特にポーランド向け原油、ベルギー向け精製油、化成品の販売が増加したためである。しかし、スペイン向け自動車輸出やドイツ向け航空機輸出の減少が影響し、機械・輸送用機器輸出は減少した。 

一方、非EU市場向け輸出は、韓国向け原油を含む燃料販売の後退と、米国向け医薬品および無機化学品の輸出により、1.7%減少した。サービス輸出は0.3％の増加となった。
