悪化した小売統計、英国のFTSE100指数、3ヶ月ぶりの最安値更新

昨年12月の英国小売売上高は、11月と比較して3.2％の落ち込みとなり、アナリスト予想の0.5％減を大きく上回った。これは2021年1月のコロナ禍以来、月間で最大の減少であった。11月の売上高が1.4％増と小幅にとどまった後の突然の反転は、小売業界を悩ませている極めて不安定な消費者市場を示すものだった。非食品店は特に大きな打撃を受け、売上高は3.9％減少した。消費者がギフト購入を控え、厳しい予算を緩和するために年末の買い物を11月に前倒ししたようだ。小売部門全体では、百貨店（7.1％減）、家庭用品（3.0％減）、アパレル（1.5％減）、その他非食品店（4.5％減）などが大きな打撃を受けた。食料品も3.1％減、無店舗小売業も2.1％減と、インフレ圧力と生活費上昇を反映して減少した。 

速報値によると、2023年全体の小売売上高は2.8％の大幅減となり、2018年以来の最安値を記録した。このような長引く低迷は、今後の消費者信頼感と購買力の状態に対する懸念を加速させている。先週の金曜日、FTSE100種総合株価指数は、終値は横ばいだったものの3週連続で下落し、過去3ヵ月で最大の下げ幅を記録した。
