Ultima Markets – Adjustment of Dynamic Leverage During News and Market Open & Close Periods on MT4 & MT5

To optimize the trading environment, we are launching a new feature called “The Dynamic Leverage during News and Market Opening & Closing Periods” on 2026/03/13 for both MT4 and MT5 servers.

I. Rule overview

During designated news release periods and specific timeframes, newly opened positions will have temporarily reduced leverage. Once the specific period ends, the leverage will automatically revert to the client’s original setting.

This rule applies to specific products with leverage settings exceeding specific threshold.

II. Scope of Application

– Servers: MT4 and MT5.

– Applicable Products: Gold, Silver, Forex, Oil, Indices, Commodities (includes XPT and XPD).

– Applicable Clients: All account types.

– Leverage Adjustment During Affected Period (New leverage limit has been marked):

• Forex: 1:200

• Oil: 1:20

• Gold: 1:200

• Silver: 1:50

• Commodities: 1:5

• Indices: 1:50

III. Affected Periods

1. News release period:

From 15 minutes before to 5 minutes after major news releases:

• USD-related news:
Applicable products: Gold, Silver, Forex, Indices, Commodities.

• Oil-related news:
Applicable products: Oil, Commodities.

• Other countries’ news:
Applicable products: Forex.

2. Market open & close period:

• 3 hours before the product’s market close on Fridays;

• 30 minutes before the product’s market close from Monday to Thursday;

• 30 minutes after the product’s market open on Mondays.
Applicable Products: Gold, Silver, Forex, Oil, Indices, Commodities.

IV. Covered news types

The leverage limit will apply to key market news announcements, including (but not limited to):

– USD-related news: FOMC interest rate decisions, CPI, PMI, NMI, PPI, GDP, PCE, Retail Sales, NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls), ADP (Private Payrolls).

– Oil-related news: Crude Oil Inventories.

– Other countries’ news: Major economic data such as CPI, PMI, GDP from non-US countries.

Futures contracts switch to new contracts on the expiration date regularly, the process is known as “Rollover” Market prices may experience fluctuations caused by non-market factors after the rollover. Positions in futures contracts will undergo corresponding funding adjustments based on the rollover direction to reflect the value change when transitioning between old and new contracts. Leverage Adjustment During News Releases & Daily Market Close

To maintain market stability and manage trading risks during high-volatility periods, a temporary leverage adjustment will be applied to specific products, starting February 23, 2026.

Adjustment details as below:

1. Leverage: Client Leverage and Fixed Leverage will be adjusted to 1:200.
*Products with original fixed leverage ≤ 1:200 will not be affected.

2. Affected Trading Platforms: MT4 and MT5.

3.Adjustment Time Periods and Affected Products:

i) 15 minutes before and 5 minutes after major economic news releases.

– USD-related news: Leverage on Forex, Gold and Indices will be adjusted to 1:200.

– Crude oil-related news: Leverage on Oil will be adjusted to 1:200.

– News related to other countries: Leverage on Forex will be adjusted to 1:200.

ii) 1 hour before market close (Monday – Friday) and 30 minutes after the next trading day opens.

Please note:

1. New position opened during the adjustment period will have a leverage of 1:200, while existing positions will remain unchanged. Once the period ends, all positions will revert to the original leverage setting.

Example: 1 lot of gold is opened before the adjustment period with a leverage of 1:500. New position 0.1 lot of gold is opened during the adjustment period when the NFP is announced, the new position will have a leverage of 1:200. During the adjustment period, both positions will have different leverages.
After the adjustment period ends, the leverage 1.1 lots of gold will return to 1:500.

2. Once leverage is adjusted, your margin requirements and margin level for open positions will be recalculated. Please re-login to MT4 / MT5 to view the real-time updates. We strongly recommend monitoring your positions closely during this period.
